Learning Centers

Each of our classrooms has age-adjusted and developmentally appropriate centers for children to explore during free play periods. Our centers include:

  • Reading corner to foster early literacy skills

  • Gross motor area to foster development of large muscle systems for gross motor coordination and movement

  • Dramatic play areas to support development of imaginative play including support of theory of mind, perspective shifting, language development, and conversational competencies

  • Fine motor manipulatives to work on hand-eye coordination, spacial awareness, development of grip and grasping, support of muscle coordination of the small muscle groups to target pre-academic skills such as hand writing.

  • Cooperative play opportunities supported in multiple areas throughout the classroom, fostering development of peer engagement, language development, and working together with peers to achieve common goals.

  • Art center targeted to support development of creativity and imagination through different mediums such as paint, crayons, and a variety of crafting materials

  • Music center available for exploration with sound, music and movement to foster creativity and play opportunities through musical instruments.

  • Technology center featuring an Obie Interactive Playground Projector with a variety of fun and educational games.
