The Pied Piper School

Mission

The Pied Piper School has a long history of educating children since 1979. It started as a small music, art and theatre program opened by Kathy Dineen and Marsha McCoy and existed in various locations throughout Yorktown before building their dream school 20 years ago.

The Pied Piper, owned by the Dineen-Carey family and operated by Kathy, Max and Molly Dineen-Carey houses two classrooms for two year olds, three classes for three year olds, and three classes for four year olds. The facility is home to four outdoor play areas including a turf sports field and basketball court. There is a large overhang which allows for outdoor performances, theatre productions and outdoor play in all types of weather. Additionally, there is a spacious patio with bench seating for presentations, receptions and educational class time.

Pied Piper welcomes students ages 18 months through 5 years old with the options for half day, full day and extended day hours. In addition, we provide before and after school care for students within the Yorktown School District.

The preschool programs integrate a multi-sensory approach to education, including music, art, physical education and theatre in addition to academics and a language rich environment to support success for all children. Music and theatre are at the core of Pied Piper, and children perform throughout the year for family and friends. The program follows the New York State Core Cirriculum for pre-schools to prepare students for kindergarten. Curriculum emphasizes activities of daily living, pragmatic and social skills to facilitate positive peer relationships, appropriate group play, manners and kindness.

“The goal at Pied Piper is to make learning fun. There is a reason the Pied Piper has been around for 44 years and counting. When your child is at Pied Piper, they are treated as one of our own. They stay a part of the Pied Piper family for many years, attending before and after school care, returning to work at our summer camp program, or becoming one of the high school helpers within the after school program. Once a Piper, always a Piper!”
